In one week of life...

In one week of life, Elijah has accomplished some important things:

  • Eating (harder than it sounds...)

  • Pooping/peeing (the rainbow of colors of poop in the first week keeps the diaper changing interesting)

  • sleeping (after a rough first night, he's resting well in his bassinet)

In one week of life, Elijah has met his grandma and grandpa, his auntie Debbie and uncle Jeff, and his cousin Antonio. Next week (July 2nd), he will meet his California grandma and grandpa! He's taken a couple of baths, which he doesn't seem to like,

has lost his belly button stump, and is looking more and more like his daddy.

In one week of Elijah's life, Steven and I have learned that you really can survive on a few minutes of sleep at a time (although it's not fun); that a tiny little baby can sure poop a lot and seems to put a lot of effort into it (lots of grunting); that patience comes and goes but is necessary to keep everything working. We've learned more than that, but I'm too tired to remember what else...

Steven wants me to be sure to share a couple highlights of the week:

  • Several pees on several people--it seems as soon as the cool air hits his bits, the water works starts, no matter who may be standing above him.

  • An exciting sneeze/fart that seemed to relieve him as much as it entertained us.

We can't wait for the excitement of week 2!

Elijah - Antonio's parents are so proud of all the progress you made this week. What a big boy you already are becoming!
